It began with paper and pencil. It ends with the most coveted title, the world's fastest production car. The Saleen S7, once a vision and dream of Steve Saleen is now the ultimate American Supercar. This weekend Speed TV will show the story of Steve Saleen, and his journey of building and manufacturing the Saleen S7.
The story of the S7 is the story of an automotive pioneer, Steve Saleen, who built an uncompromising car whose sole purpose was to beat the world's best cars. Speed TV will explore and get an insider's understanding of what it took to develop and build a Supercar capable of exceeding, and sustaining over 250 miles per hour. "We'll follow the S7 from the drawing board, through wind tunnel to testing the prototype in Wales, to the assembly line in Irvine, California where race cars and street cars are built side by side." The Saleen S7R, although being a "toned down" version of Saleen's street car, has clinched nearly every record in its class; from the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans, to a quick trip up the California coast to Malibu, the S7 captures the imagination of every auto enthusiast young and old.
After twenty-four years Steve Saleen accomplished his dream, and Saleen, Inc. accomplished its goal of becoming a world class OEM. Join Speed TV as they look how Steve Saleen with a dream, challenged and bested the giant car companies of Europe. Speed TV will air a special on the Saleen S7, the American Supercar on the following dates and times:

The S7 has paved the way for Saleen, proving that Saleen truly is an OEM opening more doors and opportunities than ever thought possible. Because of Saleen's success with the S7, Ford Motor Company contracted Saleen to assemble and paint the Ford GT program at Saleen's facility in Troy, Michigan.
Not only will you find Saleen vehicles on the street and racetrack, but they are also playing major roles in major motion pictures and television shows. The S7 stole the show as God's car in the film Bruce Almighty; driven by Jim Carrey, the S7's smoking tires gave a stunning performance. Saleen vehicles will also be featured in the upcoming films Redline and Homeland Security, and will be a major part of the anticipated summer blockbuster, Transformers, premiering July 4, 2007.
